Midland, TX — September 7, 2025, Tyler Martin sustained injuries following a car accident at around 10:11 p.m. along Loop 250.
In their initial statements, authorities said that the crash happened at the intersection of Loop 250 and North Garfield Street.
According to officials, 18-year-old Tyler Martin was on a Suzuki motorcycle going eastbound along Loop 250. A Dodge Avenger was going northbound. At the intersection, the vehicles reportedly crossed paths and collided.
Tyler Martin reportedly was seriously injured in the crash. No other injuries were reported. At this time, additional details remain unconfirmed.

To be clear up front, I know nothing more about this crash than what’s been made public by officials. However, I see plenty of reasons why early details should be taken with a few grains of salt.
For one, victims who are seriously injured in a crash aren’t always able to give their side of the story right away. If they have to be rushed to a hospital, authorities might only be getting one side of the story.
Two, motorcyclists and teenagers both tend to get a bad rap. There’s a lot of bias surrounding them, and sometimes authorities fail to put aside that bias and let the facts speak for themselves. This can result in hasty conclusions or outright false accusations.
In either case, making sure investigations prioritize the evidence is the solution. That way, those affected by this serious accident can be certain all sides of the story are being told fairly.
