June 1, 2026, one person was killed and another was injured due to a two-truck accident just before 4:30 a.m. along Etiwanda Avenue.
According to authorities, the accident occurred at the intersection of Etiwanda Avenue and Inland Avenue. The intersection is apparently controlled by a traffic signal. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, one of the trucks entered the intersection at an unsafe time, resulting in a collision with the second truck.

The other truck driver suffered injuries of unknown severity, as well. EMS transported them to a local medical facility in order to receive necessary treatment.
Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
When it comes to accidents like this one—where one vehicle allegedly enters a signal controlled intersection at an unsafe time—most people are quick to assume that it was as a result of driver error. That is understandable, considering the fact that human error plays a role in the majority of car accidents. However, after over three decades in this line of work, I’m not so eager to jump to conclusions. Why? Because I’ve seen too many cases over the years in which evidence of less likely causes ended up being unearthed by the investigation.
To be clear, I’m not implying that I know more about this specific accident than anyone else outside of the investigation. I just want to point out that, hypothetically, the wreck could have been a result of something other than driver error. For example, what if the traffic signal had been malfunctioning at the time of the crash? While excellent tools, these signals are not infallible. What if it gave contradictory signals to the two truck drivers and that was why they both ended up in the intersection at the same time?
Yes, I’m aware of how unlikely something like that is; but just because something is unlikely does not mean that it is impossible. It’s this kind of thorough and openminded thinking that will help investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get to the bottom of it without relying on surface-level investigation alone. After all, the people affected by this accident deserve to be given real answers backed by solid evidence that provide a clear and detailed understanding of not only how the wreck occurred, but also why.
