How Did This Accident Occur?
When two vehicles collide during a turn like this, it’s natural to wonder if one was speeding or failed to yield. That must be sorted out as authorities investigate this crash.
Investigators likely will work to reconstruct this accident by poring over physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage. Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time.
If authorities suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this crash, a qualified expert will have to examine the vehicles in a laboratory setting. Most law enforcement agencies do not have the time or training for such inspections, in my experience.
This investigation should provide the grieving families with a clear picture of what happened on U.S. 385.
