How Did This Accident Occur?

We don’t know much yet about how these vehicles came together. Did one rear-end the other? Did one hit the other while turning? Did they collide while changing lanes? Did this happen because one driver wasn’t paying attention to the road? Or did a mechanical issue contribute to this crash?

These questions should be considered by investigators as they work to reconstruct this accident, using physical evidence, data from the vehicles, witness statements and any available video footage. Cell phone records could show if one of the drivers was texting or interacting with an app at the time.

If investigators suspect a mechanical problem may have led to this crash, an outside expert likely will be needed to conduct a forensic examination of the vehicles. Most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for that kind of inspection, in my experience, but the injured drivers and their families deserve to know as much as possible about what happened on Christina Parkway.
