How Did This Accident Occur?
Parents won’t be happy to learn the bus driver entrusted with transporting their children has been cited for making an illegal maneuver. But there is probably more to this story.
Did the driver miss a turn? Did she have any other option than trying a U-turn? Was she properly trained before she was put behind the wheel of the bus? Authorities should consider questions like this as they investigate this crash.
Physical evidence, vehicle data, witness statements and available video footage should help investigators reconstruct this accident. The bus likely had a dashboard camera that could show what the driver saw, or didn’t see.
The school district’s records could show if the bus driver was properly vetted before she was hired, and whether the bus was overdue for any scheduled maintenance or repairs.
This investigation should give parents a clear picture of what happened on I-265.
