Denton County, TX — December 28, 2025, a truck driver was injured due to an alleged drunk driver accident around 10:00 p.m. on Interstate 35W.
Investigators said in initial statements that the crash took place along northbound lanes of the interstate near Robson Ranch Road.
According to officials, a 63-year-old truck driver was going along I-35W at the time. A Toyota Tundra was going the same direction when it collided with the truck. As a result of the accident, reports say that the truck driver sustained serious injuries.
Authorities allege that the Toyota driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. They recommended a charge for intoxication assault.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
If the allegations here are true, people might think that makes things open-and-shut. If authorities have an alleged drunk driver facing charges, what more could there be to discuss? One crucial question I too often see unasked is: Where did the alcohol come from? Here’s why that matters.
In Texas, bars and other establishments who serve obviously intoxicated patrons do so unlawfully. As such, those establishments can be held responsible when their unlawful over-service leads to people being hurt or killed. Not only does this help victims and families see accountability for the harm done to them, but it also ensures negligent alcohol providers clean up their act before more people get hurt or killed.
Unfortunately, this is an area of the law authorities rarely look into on their own. I’ve handled hundreds of cases against negligent providers. A lot of the time, those negligent alcohol providers only face consequences because the victims and families sought out help from independent professionals who happened to experienced going after those providers. Maybe authorities here have been more thorough on their own and are looking into possible accomplices to this crash. However, that’s not something I’d ever take for granted.
