Decatur, IL — October 22, 2025, one person was injured as the result of a semi-truck accident at around 10:00 a.m. along Woodford Street.
Preliminary information about the accident says that it happened at Woodford Street and McBride Street, just south of Pershing.
According to officials, a semi-truck was going along Woodford Street at the time. In events which aren’t clear at the time, a train crashed with the semi-truck. Due to this, one person had to be taken to a hospital.

People see a train hit a truck, and their immediate assumption is generally that the truck driver did something wrong. Obviously, that’s the most likely explanation. However, it would be irresponsible to jump to conclusions without considering the evidence.
Did a mechanical failure lead to the crash? Have authorities pulled cell phone records? Do these tracks have working crossing guards and signals? Is there overgrowth that hasn’t been maintained, leading to sightline issues?
Likely or not, investigations should consider all possible factors to ensure nothing slips through the cracks. That way, there can be an appropriate conclusion based on facts and not just a quick solution based on hasty assumption.
