Accident Report

April 14, 2026, a McAllen man sustained injuries as the result of a semi-truck rollover accident at around 8:50 a.m. along US Highway 281.

Preliminary statements about the accident say that it took place a few miles south of Falfurrias toward Encino off northbound lanes of US 281.

It appears that a 42-year-old McAllen man was in a Kenworth semi-trailer going northbound on highway. The truck somehow left the roadway, and it overturned. Due to the crash, the McAllen man was seriously injured.

Right now, additional details about the crash are unavailable.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Single-vehicle crashes, whether they’re cars or commercial trucks, often involve things like distracted driving, unsafe speeds, or fatigue. Maybe something like that happened here. Unlike typical cars, though, there are a lot of other things that can go wrong with commercial vehicles which authorities can’t always investigate on their own.

A cargo shift, for example, tends to require investigations from a professional more experienced with commercial vehicle accidents. That way, they can determine if the cargo moved from reckless driving, from a lack of securing the cargo, due to defective equipment, or because workers from another company loaded the cargo improperly.

Maybe that didn’t happen here, but has it been ruled out? My hope is whoever ultimately handles the accident investigations can ensure that even uncommon possibilities are at least ruled out appropriately.
