Accident Report
April 17, 2026, one person was injured as the result of an 18-wheeler accident involving power lines around 7:45 a.m. on Route 34.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened outside a business along the northbound lanes of Route 34, just off West Hurley Pond Road.
It appears that a tractor-trailer was exiting a business lot at the time when it somehow came into contact with the powerlines, pulling the poles down. As a result, the powerlines landed on four vehicles.
At least two people had to be rescued from the vehicles, and one person was reportedly injured. Their condition wasn’t specified. Additional details about the accident are unavailable right now.
How Did This Accident Occur?
While I should be clear that I don’t know more about this accident than anyone else reading the news like I did, there seem to be two strong possibilities. One is that the truck made too tight a turn or was going out a driveway it shouldn’t have been. The other is that these lines have been a known issue and no one’s done anything about it, and now finally something has gone wrong. Maybe there were other unusual circumstances someone could clue me in on. Either way, it’s going to take more thorough investigations to find out how all of this could have been avoided.
Let me know in the comments if there’s more to this story I should know about.
