Accident Report

September 2, 2026, one person lost their life due to a truck accident sometime in the afternoon along U.S. Highway 93.

According to authorities, the accident occurred on U.S. 93 at mile marker 112, which it north of Wells. Details surrounding the accident remain scarce. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a collision occurred involving a passenger vehicle and an 18-wheeler.

One person reportedly sustained fatal injuries over the course of the accident. News reports have yet to specify which vehicle the deceased victim was occupying. No other injuries have been reported.

How Did This Accident Occur?

While that is a possibility here, I’m not willing to settle on that conclusion without more information. Why? Because I have been in this line of work for over three decades. In that time I have seen plenty of cases in which thorough investigation managed to uncover evidence of less likely causes.

That being said, I’m certainly not trying to give the impression that I am somehow privy to information about this accident that is not yet available to the public. As far as I know, driver error remains on the table as a possible cause. However, I would like to suggest a hypothetical. What if, rather than driver error, the wreck was a result of something gone wrong with one or the other of the vehicles? Was brake failure a factor, for example? What about tire blowouts? Have steering malfunction or throttle issues been considered? Yes, I’m well aware that these things are not very likely; but that does not mean they should automatically be ruled out without even being looked into.

In-depth vehicle inspections would be able to shed light on any mechanical malfunctions, product defects, or design flaws that played a role in the wreck which might otherwise have gone unnoticed. Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or, if need be, a third party—get one done. That way nothing important will inadvertently be allowed to slip through the cracks. After all, the loved ones left behind by the victim deserve more than the vague assumptions that often result from surface-level investigation.
