UPDATE (April 1, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify certain details pertaining to this accident. According the these reports, the accident occurred due to the fact that the 18-wheeler failed to stop at the stop sign, entering the intersection at an unsafe time. The occupant of the passenger vehicle—a Kia—was reportedly a 46-year-old woman. The occupant of the truck was a 67-year-old man. A third vehicle—a Ford F-150—was apparently struck by the Kia after the Kia was hit by the truck. However, no one from the pickup truck sustained injuries.

Tatum, TX — March 4, 2024, two people were injured in a truck accident at approximately 4:30 p.m. along Johnson Street.

According to authorities, the incident took place at the intersection of Johnson Street and Hill Street, a.k.a. State Highway 149 and State Highway 43.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, an 18-wheeler with a trailer in tow entered the intersection at the same time as a passenger vehicle. Reports state that the truck then veered into the side of a local restaurant. The drivers of both vehicles suffered suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck. The truck driver was flown to an area medical center, while the driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to a different facility by ambulance. No other injuries have been reported.
