Northbrook, IL — February 27, 2024, one person was killed in a truck accident shortly before 2:30 a.m. along Interstate Highway 294.
According to authorities, one person was traveling in an 18-wheeler with a trailer in tow on I.H. 294 in the vicinity of Lake Cook Road when the accident took place.
The causal factors that led to the incident are still unclear. Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the 18-wheeler failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered to the side and collided with a guardrail where it caught fire.
The man believed to have been the driver of the 18-wheeler was allegedly found on the road near the wreckage upon the arrival of emergency personnel. He had incurred reportedly critical injuries and was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive immediate treatment. However, he was ultimately unable to overcome the extent of his injuries and was later declared deceased.
