1 Killed in Truck Accident on I-80 in North Platte, NE

North Platte, NE — January 18, 2024, one person was killed in a truck accident at approximately 8:00 in the morning along Interstate 80.

According to authorities, one person was traveling in an 18-wheeler on I-80 in the vicinity east of the Brady interchange when the accident took place.

The causal factors that led to the accident are unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the 18-wheeler veered off of the road and into the center median, allegedly coming to a stop beneath the Platte River Bridge. The vehicle was reportedly in flames. Reports indicate that rescue workers were unable to reach the victim until after firefighters had extinguished the fire because of the amount of smoke the flames were producing. The victim incurred fatal injuries due to the accident and was declared deceased at the scene.
