I want to be clear up front that I don’t know more about this specific accident than what’s in the news. However, I’m looking at photos published in the news, and they raise some familiar red flags
The angle the large truck is at seems to suggest it turned left onto Beaverwood. The position of the pickup seems to suggest it hit the back-right portion of the truck. If that’s indeed how things played out, does that mean that this truck driver turned across the pickup’s path? Was that reasonable? Who had the right-of-way? Did the truck driver have reason to believe there was enough time to turn? Were they just being impatient or not paying attention? Was there an object or another driver on Beaverwood that made the truck stop before clearing the intersection?
These are the questions a thorough accident reconstruction would answer, but it’s not clear if that’s the sort of investigations authorities are conducting right now.
