L’Erable, IL — December 13, 2023, one person was killed and three were injured in a truck accident just after 10:00 in the morning along U.S. 52.
According to authorities, three people were traveling in a northbound SUV on 1500 E Road approaching the U.S. 52 intersection when the accident took place.
For unknown reasons, the SUV neglected to adhere to a stop sign at the intersection; the vehicle entered the intersection at an unsafe time, resulting in a collision with a westbound 18-wheeler. The 18-wheeler reportedly made contact with the SUV on its passenger side, causing the SUV to overturn. The occupant in the front passenger seat of the SUV was ejected from the vehicle during the crash; they were declared dead at the scene of the accident. The other two occupants of the SUV and the driver of the 18-wheeler all reportedly sustained injuries as a result of the crash; they were each transported to local medical facilities by emergency medical services in order to receive treatment.
