Spartansburg County, SC — February 24, 2024, five people were killed and another person was injured in a truck accident at approximately 9:30 p.m. along I.H. 26.

According to authorities, one person was traveling in a westbound 18-wheeler hauling cars on Interstate Highway 26 in the vicinity of Clark Road when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the 18-wheeler struck a westbound Toyota before veering left, crashing through the cable barrier, and entering the eastbound lanes of the highway. This resulted in a collision with an oncoming Honda occupied by five people.

All five people who had been in the Honda incurred reportedly fatal injuries. The person who had been behind the wheel of the 18-wheeler apparently sustained injuries of unknown severity, as well, and was transported to a local hospital in order to receive treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
