Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
People tend to jump to conclusions with single-vehicle accidents, but they can be very complex. Commercial trucks even make thorough investigations that much more challenging. Not only do investigators have to look at vehicle data, road conditions, and possible defects, but they also have to consider the driver’s working conditions, their training, possible cargo shifts, trucks that employers aren’t maintaining, drivers being forced to work long hours, etc. So if this crash was just treated like some run-of-the-mill crash, there could be a whole lot more to the story than initial reports let on.
