Harris County, TX — December 12, 2023, one person was killed and another was injured in a truck accident shortly before 8:00 a.m. along I.H. 45.
According to reports, a 32-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were traveling in a northbound Chevy Express van in the HOV lane of I.H. 45 in the vicinity south of Booker Road when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, an 18-wheeler which had been occupying the lane of travel directly to the right of the HOV lane made an abrupt lane change, swerving to the left and into the HOV lane in front of the Chevy Express. This maneuver resulted in a collision between the front end of the van and the back end of the 18-wheeler. The 32-year-old man incurred reportedly fatal injuries due to the crash; the 24-year-old woman sustained suspected minor injuries; she was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive treatment. No other injuries were reported.
