Elba, WI — January 23, 2025, one person was injured in a truck accident at about 8 p.m. on U.S. Route 151 in Dodge County.
Authorities said a 2003 GMC Envoy lost control while traveling south and was struck by a northbound 2022 Freightliner semi-truck.
The GMC driver was seriously injured in the crash, according to authorities. The 45-year-old man, whose name has not been made public at this time, was transported to an area hospital.
The truck driver, a 46-year-old Iowa man, was not injured.
Authorities have not released any other information about the crash.
The accident is still under investigation.

When a crash like this occurs, especially on a highway, the first question I ask is what caused the initial loss of control by the GMC driver. While the semi-truck’s involvement makes the crash more severe, the root cause likely lies in what happened before the two vehicles collided.
One critical aspect of the investigation should be the road and weather conditions at the time of the crash. Did icy or wet roads play a role in the GMC driver losing control? If so, were there proper warnings in place, such as signs alerting drivers to the potential for hazardous conditions? Similarly, the design and maintenance of U.S. Route 151 should be examined. Are there any known issues with this stretch of road, such as poor drainage, sharp curves or uneven surfaces, that may have contributed?
The condition of the GMC Envoy itself is another key factor. Investigators will need to determine whether mechanical issues — like faulty brakes, worn tires or steering problems — played a role in the loss of control. These kinds of issues are especially important in older vehicles, where wear and tear may be more likely to contribute to accidents.
For the semi-truck driver, it’s important to determine whether there was any opportunity to avoid the collision.
