Dunegal, PA — January 9, 2024, two people were injured in a truck accident at approximately 9:15 in the morning along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, I.H. 70.

According to authorities, the accident took place in the westbound lanes of Pennsylvania Turnpike in the vicinity near Dunegal.

The causal factors that led to the crash are still unclear. It has been confirmed, however, that two 18-wheelers were involved. Officials indicate that the two big rigs reportedly collided, overturned, and crashed down the side of an embankment. It allegedly took emergency personnel over an hour to extricate one of the drivers from the wreckage. Both of the drivers of the 18-wheelers involved reportedly incurred non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident; they were transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive appropriate treatment.

The accident is under active investigation by local authorities. The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were not specifically reported on, but video taken of the scene which has been published in the news depicts clearly snowy and slippery conditions.
