Accident Report
July 14, 2026, two people were injured following a semi-truck accident at around 1:05 p.m. along North Business 45.
Initial statements on the crash say that it happened in the area of the North Business 45 and East 1st Avenue intersection.
It appears that a 42-year-old Corsicana man was in a Dodge Dakota going eastbound through the intersection. An 18-wheeler was going northbound when it allegedly ran the traffic light. As a result, the vehicles collided.
Reports say that the Dodge driver sustained serious injuries. The truck driver had possibly minor injuries. Authorities recommended charging the truck driver for running the light.

How Did This Accident Occur?
Police clearly believe a truck driver ran the light here, so this all may seem asked and answered. But finding out why the truck driver ran the light can be a challenge on its own. Even relatively simple mistakes, like distracted driving or fatigue, can trace back to problems going on behind the scenes.
For example, there was a case a while back where a truck driver caused a serious crash while texting and driving. As open-and-shut as that seemed, we wanted to be sure the family had the whole story. Digging into the details, we found out the driver had been texting his supervisor. This supervisor would constantly harass drivers all day with calls and texts, micromanaging their every move. If drivers didn’t respond immediately they risked getting on this guy’s bad side, and thus risked losing their jobs. This was inevitably going to lead to someone getting hurt, but some managers and employers just want things their way no matter who ultimately pays the price.
I’m not saying that’s what happened in this crash, just to be clear. My point is that investigations need to be able to tell the whole story from beginning to end. If investigations just stop at the first sign of someone doing something wrong, then the consequences might only address a symptom of a problem rather than the root cause. Hopefully steps are taken here to find out what all led to this crash and who all needs to be put on the straight and narrow before more people get hurt.
