Bond County, IL — December 8, 2023, one person was killed and two were injured in a truck accident at around 9:00 a.m. along I-70.
According to authorities, a cargo van was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 in the vicinity of the Route 40 bridge when the accident took place.
For unknown reasons, the van veered left, crossing the center median and entering the oncoming westbound lanes of the interstate. This led to a head-on collision with an 18-wheeler; both of the vehicles involved in the crash reportedly went up in flames.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while two others sustained injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation by local authorities.
