Bexar County, TX — January 8, 2024, one person was killed and two others were injured in a truck accident shortly after 6:15 p.m. along Potranco Road.
According to reports, an 18-wheeler was traveling westbound on Potranco Road attempting to turn left onto southbound Grosenbacher Road when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that the 18-wheeler had a blinking yellow light at the signal and allegedly attempted the turn at an unsafe time. This resulted in a collision with a Chevy Malibu occupied by a 45-year-old woman and a 72-year-old woman which had been eastbound on Potranco. An eastbound Honda Pilot occupied by a 33-year-old woman was also involved in the accident.
The woman from the Honda and the 35-year-old woman from the Chevy reportedly sustained suspected moderate injuries because of the accident. The 72-year-old woman who had also been in the Honda incurred severe injuries. All three women were transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive treatment. The 72-year-old woman, however, was unable to overcome her injuries; she has since been declared deceased.
The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were reported to have been rainy and wet. Additional details are not available at this point in time. The investigation is ongoing.
