Augusta County, VA — March 20, 2024, one person was killed and another was injured in a dump truck accident at around 2:30 p.m. along Little Calf Pasture Hwy.
According to authorities, a Jeep Wrangler was traveling southbound on Little Calf Pasture Highway when the accident occurred.

Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the Jeep failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered left of center, entering the northbound lane of the highway. This resulted in a collision with an oncoming dump truck. The collision caused the Jeep to crash into a roadside ditch where it became engulfed in flames, catching the surrounding brush on fire, as well. Reports state that approximately 20 acres of land were burned, as a result.
Following the initial collision, a second dump truck approached the crash site and was apparently unable to avoid hitting the first truck. The driver of the Jeep incurred reportedly fatal injuries and was declared deceased at the scene. The person behind the wheel of the original dump truck incurred suspected severe injuries and was transported to a local medical facility in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of those involved—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
