How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s not clear at this point what made this car leave the road on F.M. 2864. Was the driver fatigued or distracted? Did the Kia swerve to avoid an object in the road? Did the car have a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism? The only way to answer those questions is to wait to see what comes out of the investigation.

Authorities likely will work to reconstruct this crash by reviewing physical evidence, witness statements, data from the Kia and any available video footage. Cell phone records could show what the driver was doing at the time.

Law enforcement agencies typically don’t have the time or training for more than a cursory inspection of the Kia, in my experience, so an outside expert may be needed if authorities suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this crash.

A thorough investigation should be able to answer any lingering questions the injured driver and his family have about this crash.
