How Did This Accident Occur?

I understand the urge to attribute this crash to driver error or fatigue, but I’ve been a part of enough accident investigations in my career to know even single-vehicle crashes are rarely that simple. What if another vehicle forced the Mercedes off the road? Or what if the car had a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism? These scenarios must be considered during the investigation of this crash.

The investigation will compile facts that can explain how this crash happened, based on review of witness statements, evidence from the scene, data from the car’s engine control module and any available video footage. If there are questions about potential mechanical problems with the Mercedes, a qualified expert may be needed.
