Wise County, TX — March 31, 2025, a man sustained injuries as the result of a train versus pickup accident that happened around 1:30 p.m. off F.M. 718.
Austin Jackson of Wise County Messenger says the collision took place on the east side of town.
It involved a train striking a pickup, following which the vehicle caught fire. The person inside the pickup was reportedly transported from the scene with serious injuries.
Right now, no further details can be confirmed. The cause of the crash wasn’t determined.

People tend to write off train accidents, but they’re just as important to investigate as any serious accident. This can include looking at cell phone records (even for the train conductor), the condition of the roadway, signage, and even vegetation if overgrowth and lack of maintenance is obstruction vision at the crossing. I can’t say what all led to this accident, but I’ve seen far too many similar accidents go overlooked just because investigators felt they had higher priorities to attend to. Hopefully authorities here were able to dedicate enough time and resources to get both sides of the story.
