Accident Report

September 21, 2026, one person was killed and one was injured after a tow truck accident at 10:03 a.m. on US Highway 64.

According to initial details about the accident, it happened east of Taylorsville near US 64 and Adams Pond Lane.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said that the collision happened in the eastbound lanes of the highway. It appears a tow truck going westbound somehow crossed the center line. As a result, it crashed head-on with a Freightliner 18-wheeler.

Reports say that the tow truck driver died due to the accident. The 18-wheeler driver had serious injuries. Right now, additional details about the crash are unavailable.

Most people see crossover wrecks like this and assume that the driver who crossed over must have been looking at their phone. That’s certainly a common factor in all crashes these days.
