UPDATE (April 16, 2025): Officials have identified the teenager killed in the accident as Tony Hernandez Jr. Tony Hernandez Sr. was reportedly driving the Kia at the time. Right now, it remains unclear if authorities have charged anyone in relation to the accident.
UPDATE (March 19, 2025): Recent statement from Houston officials gave additional details about the crash. They reported that a Ford Expedition stopped on the freeway due to a flat tire. While stopped, a Kia Sportage crashed into the Ford. A BMW then crashed with the Kia.
Due to the collision, an 18-year-old who was riding in the Kia was killed. One person from the Ford, two people from the Kia and one person from the BMW had reportedly minor injuries. Authorities say the Ford driver left the scene. No further information can be confirmed at this time.
Houston, TX — March 13, 2025, one person was killed as the result of a multi-vehicle accident at around 6:02 a.m. on the Southwest Freeway.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened along southbound lanes of I-69 in the area of Fountain View Drive.
According to officials, the crash involved at least four vehicles. The types of vehicles involved weren’t confirmed. The details leading up to the accident are also still under investigation.

This is why it can be helpful for victims and families to be proactive and consider a few key questions.
Are investigators taking the time and using the right tools and resources to analyze all aspects of the crash? Multi-vehicle accidents can be chaotic, and missing even one key detail could lead to an incomplete or inaccurate conclusion.
Also, are they considering whether any vehicle defects contributed to the crash or made injuries worse? Brake failures, steering malfunctions, or faulty airbags can play a role in both collisions and their severity.
Finally, are authorities working to secure all available electronic evidence? Traffic cameras, dashcams, vehicle data recorders, and even cellphone records could provide crucial insight into what happened.
