How Did This Accident Occur?

We can’t ever know what’s going on in an animal’s head or why they might choose to attack someone. They can behave well their whole lives just to end up hurting someone for seemingly no reason. That’s why people generally turn to the owners of the animal. What could they have done to prevent the attack?

Sometimes, the answer is “nothing.” Animals are unpredictable, they can jump over or dig under fences, and sometimes just bringing in the groceries can lead to an animal dashing out of a house only to end up biting someone. In Texas, though, things become more complex if the animal has been violent before.

Essentially, if a dog has a history of biting someone, owners have a responsibility to prevent it from happening again. If they don’t make a reasonable effort to do so, and the dog goes on to harm people again, they can be responsible for that. That’s something that will have to be investigated more thoroughly here.
