Medina County, TX — August 31, 2024, Tobee Ortega Jr. was injured as the result of a car accident at around 2:00 a.m. along U.S. Highway 90.
Details from authorities say that the accident happened several miles west of San Antonio, near Castroville.
Investigators said that 25-year-old Tobee Ortega Jr. was in a Honda Accord going westbound on U.S. 90. The vehicle went off the right side of the road, then veered back left. It then overturned across the median, seriously injuring Ortega. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the accident.

With single-vehicle wrecks, that’s not exactly surprising. Single-vehicle wrecks aren’t often seen as a priority, so authorities often move on without actually getting the whole story. I’ve even had cases where they jumped to conclusions, and further investigations revealed authorities were completely wrong. It’s one of the reasons independent investigators are often brought in to pick up the slack. Victims deserve to know their side of the story is at least being represented accurately. It’s unclear if those steps are being taken here.
