How Did This Accident Occur?
It is not clear at this point which vehicle had the right of way at the time of the crash, but authorities should be able to sort that out as they reconstruct this accident. The other question that needs to be answered is why this accident happened.
Was one of the driver’s distracted? Were the traffic signals at the intersection working properly? Did one of these vehicles have a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism?
Investigators should have the information needed to provide a clear picture of this crash, but an outside expert may be needed to inspect the vehicles if they suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this accident. Most law enforcement agencies are not capable of the kind of examination need for such a determination, in my experience, but the injured driver and her family deserve to know as much as possible about what happened on S.H. 78.
