How Did This Accident Occur?

Any early-morning crash is going to raise red flags for things like fatigue, unsafe speed, and alcohol. Alcohol is particularly important to consider, since this happened just 30 minutes after last call on the most popular day of the week to drink. I’ve been a part of literally hundreds of investigations into bars and other establishments unlawfully over-serving people and contributing to serious accidents. A large portion of those happen around 2:00 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Maybe this crash involved something less common, like a tire blowout or medical emergency. Ultimately, it’s up to investigations to say for sure. My hope is investigators who handle the crash have the tools and experience to consider all of these possibilities so nothing important slips through the cracks.
