How Did This Accident Occur?
A lot of people only think of crashes like this in terms of what drivers might do wrong. Driving while distracted, speeding, failing to yield, etc. Those are worth investigating, obviously. But it’s important investigations also cover the environment where the crash happened. Did obstructed signage or a lack of signage lead to the accident? Does this road have an unsafe speed limit? Are there a bunch of dangerous potholes? Likely or not, I’ve seen these things cause serious truck accidents before. Either authorities can show they’ve ruled out those things on their own, or victims and families can decide to have independent investigators pick up the slack so nothing important slips under the radar.
If anyone’s local to this area, what are road conditions like? Let me know in the comments if there are any known concerns which could have played a role in this crash.
