Usually when authorities know the vehicle involved in an accident, it’s just a matter of time before they identify the person who was behind the wheel. Hopefully they were able to do so or at least continue their efforts if that person has yet to be caught. That’s especially true since drivers on the wrong side of the road usually were highly intoxicated.
Even if authorities weren’t able to immediately catch a runaway driver, they can still show that something like alcohol led to an accident. For example, I’ve handled hundreds of cases involving intoxicated drivers. things like credit card statements, receipts, witness testimony, security video, and medical expert testimony can help prove someone was intoxicated even if authorities weren’t able to obtain an exact BAC. Whether or not those steps can be taken here depends on whether the person responsible for this accident has been located and identified.
