How Did This Accident Occur?
This early in the morning, a single-vehicle truck rollover usually raises red flags for fatigue. I’ve certainly seen it lead to a lot of accidents with similar details. That said, I’ve also seen similar crashes happen without the driver having any control over the situation.
For example, have authorities inspected the truck thoroughly for mechanical issues? The truck or even the trailer could have experienced an foreseeable issue, either due to a defect or possibly even mistakes from a repair shop that made a mistake. Not a lot of officers have access to the training and tools needed to catch those kinds of details, so sometimes those possibilities can go entirely unnoticed until there are more thorough independent investigations.
It’s possible evidence has or will rule out a possible mechanical issue. My concern is if it’s even on the authorities’ radar. A lot of folks think I’m anti-trucker, but I’ve been a part of literally hundreds of commercial vehicle accident investigations, and many of them were caused by factors truck drivers couldn’t possible avoid. That’s why I know how important it is to get a crash like this into the right hands as soon as possible. Getting a fair account of the story means focusing on the evidence. I haven’t seen enough information to reassure me that that’s happened here.
If there’s important context about this crash I could be missing, let me know in the comments.
