Stewartsville, MO — February 16, 2024, Terry Hampton was injured in a truck accident at approximately 2:30 a.m. along U.S. Highway 36.

According to authorities, a 36-year-old man was traveling in a westbound 18-wheeler on U.S. Highway 36 in the vicinity of the Main Street intersection when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the truck attempted a left turn from westbound U.S. 36 onto southbound Main Street at an unsafe time, failing to yield the right of way to eastbound highway traffic. This poorly timed maneuver resulted in a collision between the truck’s towed trailer and an eastbound Ford Focus occupied by 61-year-old Chula man Terry Hampton. The crash caused the Ford to swerve right and off of the roadway before coming to a stop after striking a fence.

Hampton incurred reportedly minor injuries as a result of the accident; he was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary care. No other injuries have been reported.
