Accident Report
March 31, 2026, Terry Ensey and two others were injured due to a car accident just before 3:45 p.m. along Farm to Market 2214.
According to authorities, two men—a 30-year-old driver and a 29-year-old passenger—were traveling in a southeast bound Ford Maverick on Farm to Market 2214 in the vicinity southeast of the County Road 237 intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that the Ford Maverick was experiencing a mechanical malfunction with the steering system. It consequently veered left-of-center and was involved in a collision with an oncoming Jeep Compass occupied by 54-year-old terry Ensey.
Ensey and both men from the Maverick reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s clear, based on what was noted in the preliminary investigation, that the authorities believe a faulty steering mechanism played a role in the fact that the Maverick veered left-of-center. I’ve analyzed plenty of car accidents over the last thirty plus years where mechanical malfunctions played a role.
Hopefully, the authorities get an in-depth vehicle inspection done on the Maverick by a team of trained professionals in a laboratory setting. That way, suspicions of steering malfunction—as well as any other mechanical issues, product defects, or design flaws that had a hand in the wreck—can be backed up by solid evidence.
Unfortunately, these types of inspections are not done routinely in most car accident investigations, so a special request might have to be made. Should the authorities still fail to take that step, a third party investigation can always do so, instead, just to make sure that all the bases are covered. After all, the people affected by this wreck deserve to be given a clear and detailed picture as to not only how this accident took place, but why.
