How Did This Accident Occur?

Semi-trucks don’t overturn for no reason, in my experience, but authorities haven’t given us any reason for this crash at this point. That is why it is wise to wait for an investigation before reaching any conclusions about what happened on U.S. 287 in Lumberton.

Did a tire blowout cause the truck to overturn? Did it over-correct after drifting off the road? Did an issue with its trailer connect cause some instability? I can’t answer those questions from my computer, but investigators should consider these possibilities are the parse through evidence from the scene, data from the truck’s engine control module and any available footage of the crash. The truck may have been equipped with a dash camera, since more fleet operators are choosing to do so.
