Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

My primary concern with any motorcycle wreck is whether or not it’s going to get the attention it deserves. Frankly, a lot of people are quick to blame motorcyclists without actually considering the evidence. Even authorities can jump to conclusions. I’ve had cases where officials blamed a motorcyclist only for our own investigations to show the victim did nothing wrong.

This is why it can be helpful after serious accidents to follow up with authorities early on. If it seems like they’re able to provide sensible answers and address a family’s concerns, that’s generally a sign they’re being thorough and taking the investigations seriously. However, if their answers aren’t adding up, that could mean that the investigations are coming up short. That’s when families might reasonably decide that there needs to be a second set of eyes looking things over so nothing important slips through the cracks.
