How Did This Accident Occur?
Initial reports indicate this accident happened because a semi-truck ran a red light. Authorities should be able to confirm that as they investigate this crash. They also should be able to sort out why.
Was the truck driver in a hurry, trying to meet an unrealistic deadline? Was he fatigued from too many hours on the road? Did the truck have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? These are the kind of questions that authorities should consider as they work to reconstruct this accident.
Investigators likely will start by poring over physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage of the crash. Cell phone records could show what the driver was doing at the time.
The trucking company also warrants scrutiny because it is responsible for hiring and training the driver and putting him on the road with a well-maintained truck.
A thorough investigation should provide the Subaru driver and her family with a clear picture of what happened on Bypass Highway.
