Accident Report
La Vernia, TX — August 2, 2026, a 16-year-old girl was killed in a single-vehicle accident at about 3:50 a.m. on U.S. Highway 87.
Authorities said a northbound 2015 Lexus RX 350 left the road and overturned before crashing into the brick “Welcome to La Vernia” sign near Chihuahua Street. The SUV caught fire after the crash.
The Lexis driver, a 16-year-old La Vernia High School student, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to authorities.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Wilson County crash at this time.
