How Did This Accident Occur?

When accidents occur involving young drivers, some folks just assume it was a result of driver error. Personally, though, I’m not so eager to jump to that conclusion. In the last three decades, I’ve seen plenty of similar cases in which evidence that went against the grain of stereotype ended up being unearthed by the investigation.

That’s not to imply that I know more about this specific accident than anyone else outside of the investigation does, by the way. I just want to point out that, hypothetically, the Nissan’s lane deviation could have been caused by something gone wrong with the vehicle itself, rather than driver error. What if it had been dealing with a steering issue, for example? Or perhaps it had a tire blowout? I know, these things are not very likely, but neither do they lie outside of the realm of possibility.

An in-depth vehicle inspection done by professionals in a laboratory setting would be able to bring to light any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that played a role in the wreck. Hopefully the authorities get one done. If they don’t take that step, though, then a third party investigation can always do so, instead; that way all the bases are covered. After all, the loved ones left behind by the victim deserve a clear and detailed understanding of not only how the wreck happened, buy why. That kind of clarity simply can not be provided by surface-level investigation.
