Two passengers in the Nissan were hospitalized with unspecified injuries, authorities said. Back-seat passenger Shane Demeair Taylor, 31, of Cameron died there.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Bell County crash at this time. The accident is still under investigation.

How Did This Accident Occur?

At this point, we don’t know why these two vehicles collided. Did the Nissan driver change lanes without looking? Was the Hyundai changing lines at the same time? Did either car have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? Addressing these questions should help authorities in their investigation of this crash.

Investigators will rely on vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and available video footage as they work to reconstruct this accident, while cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time.

A qualified expert should examine the vehicles if authorities think a mechanical problem contributed to the crash. That should include assessing whether the Hyundai’s driver assistance system was working properly.
