How Did This Accident Occur?

The truck driver was cited for running a red light, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he is the one who caused this crash. The citation is based on a police officer’s initial impressions at the scene, but it will take a full investigation to determine what truly happened at I-35 and Airport Road.

Was the truck driver distracted or fatigued? Was the traffic signal at the intersection working properly? Did the truck have an issue with its brakes that prevented it from stopping?

I’m not claiming to know the answers to these questions, but from what I’ve learned in my career they’re the type of questions that authorities should be considering as they look into this accident. Investigators can’t afford to get locked into one possible scenario. They need to consider all possible causes for this crash as they try to sort out happened.
