Accident Report
May 14, 2026, Stuart Bailey was injured due to a motorcycle accident just after 7:30 a.m. along East Scott Avenue.
According to authorities, 62-year-old Stuart Bailey was traveling on a westbound Honda motorcycle on East Scott Avenue at the Denison Avenue intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a westbound Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck hauling a trailer purportedly attempted a turn from the improper lane. A collision consequently occurred between the motorcycle and the right side of the pickup’s trailer.
Bailey reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
I’ve been in this line of business for over three decades. In that time, I’ve had the opportunity to analyze hundreds of motorcycle-involved accidents. Oftentimes, folks are quick to blame accidents on motorcyclists, but I’ve learned not to make that assumption. I’ve seen plenty of cases over the years in which evidence of causes that went against the grain of the stereotype ended up being unearthed by the investigation.
Take this accident, for example. Some might assume that the motorcycle should have been able to avoid a collision with the turning truck regardless of the fact that the truck was purportedly turning from the incorrect lane. I think it would be prudent for an in-depth inspection do be done on the motorcycle to ensure that it’s brakes and steering were working correctly at the time of the wreck.
Does this outweigh the fact that the truck turned from a place where it shouldn’t have? No, of course not (and investigators should still be meticulous about figuring out why that maneuver was attempted). But it does play a significant role if it turns out to be the case.
When push comes to shove, the people affected by this accident deserve real answers and not vague assumptions. Surface-level investigation just won’t cut it.
