How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not clear at this point why this pickup left the road. Was the driver distracted or fatigued? Did she swerve to avoid another vehicle or an animal in the road? Did the 30-year-old pickup have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? These are the kind of questions that authorities must consider as they investigate this crash.
Investigators will rely on physical evidence, witness statements, vehicle data and any available video footage to reconstruct this accident. Cell phone records could show if the driver was texting or interacting with an app at the time, but a forensic examination will be needed if authorities suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this crash.
Most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for such inspections, in my experience, but the driver’s family deserves to know as much as possible about what caused this accident.
