Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
One of the most common kinds of accidents I get calls about are single-vehicle accidents like this. It’s reasonable for families to be concerned that if the victim isn’t around to tell their side of the story, some details might slip through the cracks. Sometimes, authorities are thorough and look into even unlikely possible factors to make sure all facts are brought to light. Too often, though, they treat the crash as a low priority, and important details are overlooked.
That’s why it can be helpful to follow up with authorities as early as possible. If they can address all concerns and questions, that’s a good sign they handled investigations properly. But if details aren’t adding up or if the family feels there’s still more to the story, it’s possible more thorough independent investigations might reveal new details.
