I have yet to see new confirmed details about what happened here, and I just hope the victim’s loved ones are getting more information than the public is. I get calls all the time from families who trusted authorities to get them the factors only for them to come back with incomplete or outright inaccurate information. It’s one of the reasons I so often talk about the importance of things like independent investigations and being proactive with the authorities to make sure they’re not missing anything important.
Ultimately, when victims and families feel satisfied they’re getting clear, sensible answers, it’s because authorities did a good job in their investigations. Otherwise, if they still have doubts or feel that the facts just aren’t adding up, it’s important to trust that instinct and at least consider possible avenues to verify what authorities are saying or to otherwise set the record straight through more rigorous investigations. I see no reason right now why this crash would be an exception to that.
