Dallas, TX — October 26, 2023, Sonia Laynette Williams was injured following a car accident at around 3:00 a.m. along Dallas Parkway.

Authorities said they were called out to the intersection of southbound Dallas Parkway and Keller Springs Road.

According to officials, 47-year-old Sonia Laynette Williams was in a Chevy Malibu going westbound on Keller Springs. From southbound Dallas Parkway, a driver in a Toyota Corolla somehow turned left into the westbound lanes, crashing nearly head-on with Williams.

As a result of the collision, Williams had injuries which appeared to be serious. The other driver’s injuries, if any, were believed to be minor. No one else was involved in the accident.

Authorities blamed the crash on the Toyota driver being on their phone at the time. Something else worth mentioning, though, is authorities claim the more seriously injured driver here didn’t have their seatbelt on. Is that true, or could there be more to the story?

Not long ago, for example, we had a case involving a driver accused by authorities of not wearing their seatbelt. As we do with any serious accident, we made sure an experienced accident reconstructionist looked into things. Since they had more experience and better equipment than the authorities, they discovered the victim’s seatbelt pretensioner failed, causing the victim to be ejected from their seat despite wearing their seatbelt.

I’m not suggesting something like that happened here, but folks tend to read early statements from authorities and think they’re getting all the facts. In reality, there could be important information that slipped through the cracks.
